The upgraded eight-beam Octal laser is a 120-mm Nd: glass system for high-power target irradiation experiments presently under operation at Limeil, France. A new method for controlling the alignment of the laser components is de- scribed. It uses two telescopes, coupled to specially designed electronics, to monitor the system.
