DTRA’s advancements in nuclear and radiological detection
A new, more complex nuclear age has begun. Echoing the tensions of the Cold War amid rapidly evolving nuclear and radiological threats, preparedness in the modern age is a contest of scientific innovation. The possibility of catalyzed nuclear fusion occurring in bound systems where the nonnuclear constituent is some heavy lepton other than muon, for example, τ, is investigated. Improved techniques for calculating fusion rates without adiabatic approximation in leptomolecules are also discussed. Furthermore, the possibility of fusion occurring in exotic systems comprised of nuclei and monopoles is explored.
