A neutronics analysis for the MARS Li-Pb blanket and shield is presented. A thin blanket with a thick Fe-1422 reflector yields a tritium breeding ratio of 1.13 and an energy multiplication of 1.39. This blanket design has the attractive features of low cost, reduced activated waste, and ease of maintenance. A shield has been designed to provide adequate magnet protection.
