DTRA’s advancements in nuclear and radiological detection
A new, more complex nuclear age has begun. Echoing the tensions of the Cold War amid rapidly evolving nuclear and radiological threats, preparedness in the modern age is a contest of scientific innovation. This tutorial presents the techniques that are used to build a transport model from turbulence simulations. Achievements and limitations are reviewed. The main mechanisms leading to an improved confinement are also addressed. The results of turbulence modelling regarding this issue are assessed.
