Swiss nuclear power and the case for long-term operation
Designed for 40 years but built to last far longer, Switzerland’s nuclear power plants have all entered long-term operation. Yet age alone says little about safety or performance. Through continuous upgrades, strict regulatory oversight, and extensive aging management, the country’s reactors are being prepared for decades of continued operation, in line with international practice.

Fusion Science and Technology | Volume 49 | Number 2 | February 2006 | Pages 89-95
Technical Paper | JFT-2M Tokamak | doi.org/10.13182/FST06-A1089
Articles are hosted by Taylor and Francis Online.
The experimental program on the JFT-2M tokamak started with the first plasma on April 27, 1983, and was completed in March 2004. In the series of experiments for 21 yr, many significant results in fusion energy research and plasma physics have been produced. As the first paper of this special issue on JFT-2M, this paper provides an overview of the JFT-2M program.
