TVA nominees promise to support advanced reactor development
Four nominees to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority Board of Directors told the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee that they support the build-out of new advanced nuclear reactors to meet the increased energy demand being shouldered by the country’s largest public utility.

Session topics will focus on the integration of advanced technologies in nuclear power plants (NPPs) to enhance safety and efficiency. Specifically, the adoption of AI, remote devices, and innovative engineering to reduce costs and risks associated with high radiation environments. Discussion on the application of automated devices, like fire carts, at NPPs, detailing the benefits of reduced personnel requirements and improved risk profiles. The session will include real-world examples from U.S. NPP fleets and discuss collaborations with regulatory bodies such as the DOE, DOD, and IAEA.
