Outside the lab, I have a second job: I moonlight as a writer and public speaker. My new popular science book—Going Nuclear: How the Atom Will Save the World—came out last summer, and it feels like my life has been running at full power ever since.

Starting an engineering startup company involves a systematic and strategic process to transform innovative ideas into a viable business. It is an exciting journey to see one's idea manifest into products that can meet real world demands. But what does it take to "start" a startup? What are the steps after identification of a problem and solution? This session will feature an array of panelist from nuclear startups and venture capitalists who will draw from their entrepreneurship experiences to talk about the practical steps involved in transforming an idea into a successful funded company?
