NECX 2026 kicks off with a look to the future
The second annual Nuclear Energy Conference & Expo (NECX 2026), hosted in Dallas, Texas, kicked off this morning with an exciting opening plenary that saw leaders from government, regulation, and industry discussing the unprecedented opportunities now open to the nuclear sector.
NECX, the premier nuclear industry conference cohosted by the American Nuclear Society and the Nuclear Energy Institute, is all about leveraging those opportunities.

Westinghouse
Dr. Vefa Kucukboyaci is a consulting engineer for the Westinghouse Digital and Innovation Organization. He is currently engaged in the eVinci microreactor development program, with an instrumental role in modeling and simulation, particularly in safety analysis, nuclear core design, and TRISO fuel performance areas. With more than 23 years of nuclear industry experience, he has held numerous technical positions at Westinghouse supporting different organizations, including nuclear core design methods, LOCA analysis, spent fuel pool criticality, and Westinghouse SMR development.
Dr. Kucukboyaci holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
