Flamanville-3 reaches full power
France’s state-owned electric utility EDF has announced that Flamanville-3—the country’s first EPR—reached full nuclear thermal power for the first time, generating 1,669 megawatts of gross electrical power. Dr. Vefa Kucukboyaci is a consulting engineer for the Westinghouse Digital and Innovation Organization. He is currently engaged in the eVinci microreactor development program, with an instrumental role in modeling and simulation, particularly in safety analysis, nuclear core design, and TRISO fuel performance areas. With more than 23 years of nuclear industry experience, he has held numerous technical positions at Westinghouse supporting different organizations, including nuclear core design methods, LOCA analysis, spent fuel pool criticality, and Westinghouse SMR development.
Dr. Kucukboyaci holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Pennsylvania State University.
