Aalo Atomics discusses the road ahead
Arafat
Yasir Arafat, president and chief technology officer of Aalo Atomics, participated in the first day of sessions at the Nuclear Regulatory Commission’s annual Regulatory Information Conference (RIC). There, he recapped some of the company’s recent milestones and revealed new details on what lies ahead for Aalo.
His attendance at the event coincided with a number of announcements in the past two weeks. Those announcements covered new contracts with Global Nuclear Fuel and Baker Hughes, the release of a new strategic roadmap, the completion of fuel enrichment by Urenco USA, and a new approval from the Department of Energy.
NUCLEAR AND EMERGING TECHNOLOGIES FOR SPACE (NETS-2025) PLENARY SPEAKER
Shirvan is a professor of nuclear science and engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is Director of the Reactor Technology Course for Utility Executives by the National Academy for Nuclear Training, Director of the Accident Tolerant Fuel Integrated Research Project (IRP), and Fuels Irradiation Lead at MIT reactor. Shirvan is also Principal Investigator of the MIT ARC-20 project as part of the Advanced Demonstration Reactor Program. His research focuses on acceleration of innovations in reactor design and fuel engineering.
Shirvan has a doctorate and master's in Nuclear Science and Engineering from MIT, and a bachelor's in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Florida.
