Program prepares U.K. students for nuclear careers
Earlier this year, Nuclear Waste Services, the radioactive waste management subsidiary of the U.K. Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, hosted a group of five teenagers for a week of exposure to real-world work environments at its facilities in Calderbridge, Cumbria. The students learned about career opportunities and leadership responsibilities at the company while they engaged with senior management and performed activities with several NWS teams, including employees in the environmental, waste characterization, cybersecurity, human resources, and geological disposal facility grants departments.
International Conference on Mathematics and Computational Methods Applied to Nuclear Science and Engineering (M&C 2025)
Piero Ravetto is currently professor emeritus of nuclear reactor physics at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, where he spent most of his career.
Over several decades, he has carried out research in the fields of neutron transport and nuclear reactor physics, contributing to the development of analytical and numerical methods, and he has been involved in the study of models and methods for the simulation of innovative nuclear systems (molten-salt reactors and accelerator-driven systems) and for the interpretation of kinetic experiments.
He is a fellow of the American Nuclear Society. He served as executive editor of the journal Annals of Nuclear Energy in the period 2019-2024.
