Isotopes & Radiation
Members are devoted to applying nuclear science and engineering technologies involving isotopes, radiation applications, and associated equipment in scientific research, development, and industrial processes. Their interests lie primarily in education, industrial uses, biology, medicine, and health physics. Sam Altman steps down as Oklo board chair
Advanced nuclear company Oklo Inc. has new leadership for its board of directors as billionaire Sam Altman is stepping down from the position he has held since 2015. The move is meant to open new partnership opportunities with OpenAI, where Altman is CEO, and other artificial intelligence companies.
Piero Ravetto is currently professor emeritus of nuclear reactor physics at Politecnico di Torino, Italy, where he spent most of his career.
Over several decades, he has carried out research in the fields of neutron transport and nuclear reactor physics, contributing to the development of analytical and numerical methods, and he has been involved in the study of models and methods for the simulation of innovative nuclear systems (molten-salt reactors and accelerator-driven systems) and for the interpretation of kinetic experiments.
He is a fellow of the American Nuclear Society. He served as executive editor of the journal Annals of Nuclear Energy in the period 2019-2024.
