NRC posts hearing request notice for Belews Creek ESP application
An opportunity to request an adjudicatory hearing for Duke Energy Carolinas’ early site permit (ESP) application for the Belews Creek site in Stokes County, N.C., has been announced by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. The notice of the opportunity was published February 9 in the Federal Register. The deadline to file a request for a hearing or petition for leave to intervene is April 10, 2026.
Advances in Nuclear Fuel Management (ANFM 2025)
Lauren Wirick serves as the Director of Fuel Engineering Technologies at Westinghouse Electric Company, accountable for developing simulation code applications to support reactor core safety analysis, core surveillance, and core monitoring. Prior to her current role, Lauren has held various leadership positions in the energy sector, specializing in design engineering, field services, manufacturing, and research and development of nuclear fuel technologies. Lauren holds a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and a graduate certificate in nuclear engineering and operations from the University of Pittsburgh. She lives in Wexford, PA, with her husband, two daughters, and dog Akira.
