Decommissioning & Environmental Sciences
The mission of the Decommissioning and Environmental Sciences (DES) Division is to promote the development and use of those skills and technologies associated with the use of nuclear energy and the optimal management and stewardship of the environment, sustainable development, decommissioning, remediation, reutilization, and long-term surveillance and maintenance of nuclear-related installations, and sites. The target audience for this effort is the membership of the Division, the Society, and the public at large.

NuScale, Accelerant ally to develop operator training program
NuScale Power has signed an agreement with training and consulting firm Accelerant Solutions for the development and implementation of a reactor operator training program, the Portland, Ore.–based small modular reactor developer announced on June 7.
Global Laser Enrichment was formed in 2007 to develop and commercialize laser-based uranium enrichment technology capability in the US. Since its inception, GLE’s worked closely with Silex Systems of Australia, the inventor of the laser enrichment process, to advance the SILEX laser enrichment technology towards commercial launch for uranium enrichment.
