Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is a multidisciplinary research institution engaged in science and engineering on behalf of national security. The Pit Technologies (PT) Division delivers high-quality plutonium pit-related products and services under rigorous safety, compliance, and quality standards. We are seeking a Manufacturing Manager 3 to serve as a First-Line Manager (FLM) in the PT-2 Machining Group. This role leads precision machining operations, manages daily manufacturing activities, develops employees, and drives operational excellence in a high-consequence nuclear facility. This is a regular, onsite position in Los Alamos, NM, with a salary range of $141,500 - $238,300. Rotating shifts, including nights and weekends, may be required.

Responsibilities:

Lead daily precision machining and manufacturing activities, including effective use of CNC equipment and related production resources

Ensure work is executed in compliance with nuclear facility, safety, quality, engineering, maintenance, and Conduct of Operations requirements

Develop work scope, coordinate activities, manage tactical execution, and track and report progress toward programmatic milestones

Mentor, motivate, and develop employees while managing staffing needs, performance, conflict resolution, and team effectiveness

Identify and implement process improvements that strengthen manufacturing performance, reliability, and operational efficiency

Collaborate with technicians, engineers, professional staff, customers, and organizational leaders to resolve complex operational challenges

Create and maintain clear technical documentation and accurately manage information in digital systems

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field of science or technology from an accredited institution and 8+ years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of related education and experience

• Demonstrated technical leadership experience supervising, mentoring, team building, and motivating employees, and developing personnel
• Experience developing work scope, coordinating work activities, managing tactical execution, and tracking and reporting progress
• Knowledge of machining manufacturing environments and nuclear facility operational requirements
• Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills

Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) enrollment (U.S. citizenship required)

Desired Qualifications:

Experience managing classified, confidential, proprietary, or sensitive information

Demonstrated success scaling business functions, growing teams, or advancing experimental initiatives

Project and program management experience, including planning, organizing, resource management, and work package execution

Experience leading multidisciplinary teams of technicians, engineers, and professional staff

Knowledge of Integrated Work Management and Integrated Safety and Security Management methods

Experience with high-hazard nuclear facility operations, safety authorization basis, and Conduct of Operations planning and execution
