The American Nuclear Society is hosting a Supplier Showcase webinar, “Advancing DVR for MUR: Lessons from First-of-a-Kind Projects,” tomorrow, August 18, from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. (CDT) on recent advancements in data validation and reconciliation (DVR). The conversation will also focus on how these advancements have reduced core thermal power measurement uncertainty and enabled measurement uncertainty recapture (MUR) uprates.

The webinar is free for all viewers and requires registration.

Details: This webinar will be led by Greg Kanuckel, the director of thermal performance at GSE Solutions. He will explore how GSE’s DVR for MUR solution allows utilities to recover 15–20 MWe of additional generation capacity, increasing revenue while improving measurement accuracy. In this exploration, Kanuckel will discuss the latest industry developments, including lessons learned from first-of-a-kind applications; the status of a recent license amendment request (LAR); and how utilities are advancing DVR implementation.

  • Other topics of discussion will include the following:
  • How an EPRI topical report on DVR for MUR applies to industry.
  • The Nuclear Regulatory Commission review of a first-of-a-kind LAR.
  • How DVR models are currently being applied across the U.S. nuclear fleet.
  • A practical approach for implementing DVR.
  • The conditions, limitations, and key considerations outlined in the NRC Safety Evaluation.
