NRC’s UNLP to award 22 new education grants

The Nuclear Regulatory Commission has announced its intention to award 22 education grants worth a total of $8.2 million to 16 academic institutions in 15 states. The grants, which are part of the NRC’s University Nuclear Leadership Program (UNLP), are meant to support nuclear engineering and science programs. Two of the recipient schools are classified as minority-serving institutions.

Grant values: The 22 grants comprise eight undergraduate scholarships, six graduate fellowships, one trade school and community college scholarship, and seven distinguished faculty advancement awards. Each undergraduate scholarship will provide as much as $20,000 to support students over three years; each trade school scholarship, as much as $5,000 to students over two years; and each graduate fellowship, as much as $50,000 per year to students over four years. Each distinguished faculty advancement award will provide as much as $600,000 over a four-year period.
