Westinghouse signs MOU with Tetra Tech for Canadian new-build projects

Westinghouse Electric Company will collaborate with Tetra Tech Canada to explore the possible development and deployment of Westinghouse’s nuclear power reactors in Ontario, Canada, under a memorandum of understanding signed by the companies on January 28.

The announcement is the latest in a series of agreements Westinghouse has made with Canadian firms in support of the company’s AP1000 and AP300 reactor projects globally. Westinghouse is owned by Canadian energy companies Brookfield and Cameco.

Details: While exact details on the MOU were undisclosed, Westinghouse said the partnership aims to strengthen the company’s project development capabilities and supply chain, positioning Westinghouse as a leading provider of clean energy in Canada. As a consulting and engineering services company, Tetra Tech is to support Westinghouse through its engineering expertise and experience in clean energy projects in North America and the United Kingdom.

John Gorman, president of Westinghouse Canada, added, “This agreement underscores Westinghouse’s commitment to investing in Ontario’s nuclear future by partnering with the exceptional product and service providers that have long been the foundation of the province’s supply chain.”
