ANFM 2025 is on the horizon

The first Advances in Nuclear Fuel Management (ANFM) conference in eight years is being held July 20–23, 2025, at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach, Fla.

Since the last ANFM meeting, the landscape of nuclear fuel management has significantly changed due to new fuel designs, advanced technology fuel, and longer cycle lengths. Soon, the industry anticipates seeing increased enrichments and burnup limits in light water reactors, as well as advanced reactor concepts that will require new fuel innovations. Along with the advancement of artificial intelligence and machine learning and their applications to fuel management, the coming future promises a period of evolution in this area.

ANFM 2025 is focused around those very changes; the conference’s theme is “Evolving Paradigms in Nuclear Fuel Management: Powering Future Generations.” Sponsored by the American Nuclear Society’s Fuel Cycle & Waste Management Division and supported by the Canadian Nuclear Society and Korean Nuclear Society, ANFM 2025 promises to be a unique opportunity for anyone interested in the future of fuel management. International representatives from fuel vendors, utilities, support organizations, national laboratories, and universities will gather to share and discuss the latest developments and future of the field.

The conference will include plenary sessions, technical sessions, panel sessions, and workshops, the full details of which can be found here. Some highlights include a group golf event at the Clearwater Country Club on the opening day of the conference as well as half a dozen workshops on various topics, such as the RAPID, OpenMC, and RAVEN simulation codes, among others.

Resort reservations and conference registration are currently open and can be made at the above link.
