The American Nuclear Society’s 2025 Annual Conference is right around the corner, taking place June 15–18 in Chicago at the Downtown Marriott.

Make sure to register for the meeting, make hotel reservations, and see the full conference program.

The Annual Conference is an opportunity to take part in one of the largest gatherings of nuclear professionals in the country and engage with leaders from across the nuclear science and technology landscape. In addition to an impressive list of government and industry leaders, organizers are planning several hot-topic technical sessions, popular plenary speakers, in-depth committee meetings, and instructive workshops.

Attendees will also have the opportunity to tour two facilities. If power plants are your interest, you can visit the 4,457-acre Braidwood Clean Energy Center site, which is home to two Westinghouse pressurized water reactors. Those interested in research have the opportunity to tour Argonne National Laboratory, the itinerary for which includes the Advanced Photon Source, the Activated Materials Laboratory, the Aurora Exascale Supercomputer, the Nuclear Energy Exhibition Hall, and several materials research facilities and experimental test assemblies.

There's more: The 2025 Annual Conference features two embedded topical meetings: Nuclear Plant Instrumentation and Control & Human-Machine Interface Technology (NPIC&HMIT) and Probabilistic Safety Assessment and Analysis (PSA).

NPIC&HMIT represents an opportunity for nuclear instrumentation and control and human factors engineering professionals to meet with leaders in the field to exchange information and discuss future directions. The embedded topical “will bring together national and international experts from industry, academia, and government to discuss advances in instrumentation and controls, human factors, sensors, artificial intelligence, and cybersecurity, enabling cooperation and collaboration to accelerate research and expanded deployment of nuclear energy,” said Vivek Agarwal, NPIC&HMIT general chair.

PSA serves as a worldwide forum for communication on risk- and safety-related issues, methods, applications, insights, policy, research, and regulation. Traditional applications such as nuclear reactor facilities, nonreactor installations, processing, decontamination, decommissioning, and storage will be addressed, as will nontraditional applications of probabilistic safety approaches.

“The use of risk-informed applications is at its highest point in the history of the nuclear industry, and we’re excited to bring together a diverse group from industry, government, and academia to explore the future of risk analysis,” said Dave Grabaskas, program chair for the topical.

Looking ahead: The 2025 ANS Winter Conference and Expo, International High Level Radioactive Waste Management (IHLRWM 2025), and Advances in Nuclear Nonproliferation Technology and Policy Conference (ANTPC 2025) all have calls for papers open now. The deadline for each is June 24, 2025.

Further details on all upcoming conferences and submission deadlines can be found on the ANS website, and any questions can be directed to meetings@ans.org.
