With the months rolling by, the time is coming for the American Nuclear Society to hold its second annual conference of the year. The 2025 ANS Winter Conference & Expo, with a theme of “Building the Nuclear Century,” will take place November 9–12 in Washington, D.C., at the Washington Hilton.

Attendees can expect a wide variety of exciting plenaries, executive and technical sessions, workshops, and tours. Alongside these events, ANS will be hosting two certificate course offerings: NUC 101 and Radioactive Waste Management.

On the tour side, attendees will have the opportunity to visit the Ameresco and CyrusOne data center site, offering a unique opportunity to better understand one of the key pieces of infrastructure driving new energy investment. The tour will also focus on the intersection of nuclear partnerships and data center operations.

Another tour will turn from the nuclear future to the past with a chance to explore the NS Savannah. Launched in 1959, the Savannah was the first nuclear merchant ship at sea. Powered by an 80-MWt pressurized water reactor, it traveled more than 450,000 miles and was designated by ANS as a nuclear historic landmark.

The first executive session of the conference is titled “Reinvigorating the Nuclear Industrial Base: Implementation of Executive Order 14302” and will explore how the U.S. can expedite nuclear expansion. Other executive sessions will be about the other nuclear-related executive orders signed by President Trump.

As for technical sessions, as usual, topics will run the gamut, giving attendees the opportunity to hear about everything from radioisotopes, to fuel cladding, to workforce development, to advanced reactors, and much more.
