A look at refueling in the COVID-19 era

According to the federal government, certain critical infrastructure industries have a special responsibility during the coronavirus pandemic to continue operations, including the nuclear power industry.

But keeping plants in operation means that refueling outages must go forward as scheduled. That requires bringing in hundreds of additional workers, complicating what is already a difficult situation, given the COVID-19 precautions in place at nuclear facilities.
