NY Clean Energy Standard Saves 600 Jobs
It was announced today that Entergy Corp. will transfer the FitzPatrick nuclear power plant operating license to Exelon Corp. to officially purchase the plant on Lake Ontario. Although the transaction will not be complete until 2017, the deal has saved 600 jobs and will help New York meet the state’s clean energy goals.
“I believe this nation and this state needs a clean energy policy that is realistic and that can be implemented before we destroy this planet,” NY Governor Andrew Cuomo said Tuesday. “And I believe that nuclear plays an important role in that clean energy policy.”
