ANS is committed to advancing, fostering, and promoting the development and application of nuclear sciences and technologies to benefit society.
Explore the many uses for nuclear science and its impact on energy, the environment, healthcare, food, and more.
Division Spotlight
Mathematics & Computation
Division members promote the advancement of mathematical and computational methods for solving problems arising in all disciplines encompassed by the Society. They place particular emphasis on numerical techniques for efficient computer applications to aid in the dissemination, integration, and proper use of computer codes, including preparation of computational benchmark and development of standards for computing practices, and to encourage the development on new computer codes and broaden their use.

Description
The 12th international topical meeting on Nuclear Plant Instrumentation, Control and Human-Machine interface Technologies (NPIC&HMIT 2021) was held virtually June 14-17, 2021, embedded in the 2021 ANS Virtual Annual Meeting. Organized by ANS's Human Factors, Instrumentation & Controls Division (HFICD), the meeting focused on advances and successes in technologies and deployment and lessons learned. The meeting proceedings include 144 papers from the instrumentation and controls (I&C) and human-machine interface communities that address such topics as advances in sensors and sensor characterization, control-room design, and I&C systems; the latest trends in digital I&C and human factors; digital considerations for safety applications; and I&C for autonomous operations and online maintenance i the next generation of reactors.
