When compared with direct disposal, reprocessing and recycling are an option to provide potential economic benefits, reduce front and back-end fuel cycle impacts, and improve domestic security of supply. This workshop aims to improve participants’ familiarity with the characteristics of used nuclear fuel, the components of a typical reprocessing plant, the major reprocessing technology options, and the typical waste forms resulting from reprocessing.</p>
