In this Note we report on a technique for determining a two-dimensional time-dependent response function using a one-dimensional solution of the transport equation for a homogeneous medium. Basic to this technique is the calculation of the adjoint function. We have determined the asymmetric energy deposition rate in air from a spatial asymmetric source as an example of the method.
