We introduce a new method based on mixed and hybrid finite element for solving the second-order discrete ordinates transport equation on unstructured grids in any arbitrary spatial dimensions. We derive a mixed variational form of the transport equation and describe the mixed and hybrid discretization procedure. We also prove discrete asymptotic properties in slab geometry. We present some numerical results to illustrate the efficiency of our method.
