The 2004 International Congress on Advances in Nuclear Power Plants (ICAPP ‘04) will be held on June 13–17 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, at the 2004 American Nuclear Society (ANS) Annual Meeting. ICAPP is the premier international conference on nuclear power plants and is jointly sponsored by five of the world’s major nuclear societies: ANS, Sociedad Nuclear Española, Société Française d'Energie Nucléaire, Atomic Energy Society of Japan, and Korean Nuclear Society. The Operation and Power Division of ANS is ICAAP’s primary sponsor. ICAPP is an annual event that is held bi-annually in conjunction with the ANS Annual Meetings and rotates between Europe and Asia and the United States in the off years. ICAPP ‘05 will be held during May 15–18, 2005, in Seoul, Korea.
ICAPP provides a forum for the industry to exchange the latest ideas and research findings on nuclear plants from all perspectives. This conference builds on the success of last year’s meeting held in Córdoba, Spain, and on the 2002 inaugural meeting held in Hollywood, Florida. Because of the hard work of many volunteers from around the world, ICAPP ‘04 has been successful in achieving its goal. More than 325 invited and contributed papers/presentations are part of this ICAPP. There are 5 invited plenary sessions and 70 technical sessions with contributed papers. The ICAPP ‘04 Proceedings contain almost 275 papers prepared by authors from 25 countries covering topics related to advances in nuclear power plant technology. ICAPP ’04 joins the ANS in celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
