Report of the Special Committee on Source Terms Description
The special committee on source terms was appointed in June of 1982 by ANS President L. Manning Muntzing, following an ad hoc meeting of interested ANS members during the June meeting of the Society in Los Angeles. The mandate given to and subsequently elaborated by the Committee was to review and evaluate the state of knowledge of how to predict a source term deriving from a severe core damage accident, and to summarize the results prepared by several investigating organizations. The state of knowledge and summary were to be compared to WASH-1400, the Reactor Safety Study, which was published in 1975. This document contains the Committee’s reports on these subjects.
