Policy Makers

Because policy makers are most responsive to the concerns of voters in their districts, ANS encourages its members to identify their representatives in local, state and federal positions.  To determine who represents you in Congress, visit Capitol Connection (ANS members only).

By contacting your elected officials, you can provide professional perspectives on pressing issues related to nuclear science and technology.  Lawmakers need to know that nuclear applications are important to their constituents.  Craig Piercy in the ANS Washington DC office can provide insights and guidance on how to approach your representatives.  Contact him via e-mail.

Meetings

Meeting with a member of Congress, or congressional staff, is an effective way to convey a message about a specific issue or legislative matter.  Consider the following suggestions when planning a visit to a congressional office.

 • Plan Your Visit Carefully

 • Do Your Research

 • Report Your Efforts to Amplify the Unified Voice of ANS

 • Congressional Staff on the Hill and in the District
