Celebrate Earth Day on April 22nd

Earth Day is a time to celebrate the environment we all enjoy. It also provides an opportunity to promote the many benefits of nuclear science and technology. With Earth Day right around the corner, the American Nuclear Society (ANS) encourages everyone to join together to help people understand the environmental benefits nuclear provides.

Here are ideas for events to do on your own or coordinate with others in your community.

  • Set up a "green" talk with a local school in your area to discuss nuclear energy.
  • Volunteer to conduct a teacher/student workshop.
  • Contact organizations in your community and offer to make a presentation on the benefits of nuclear science and technology.
  • Hold a rally at a public venue (Permits may have to be obtained. Please contact your city first. Different rules and regulations may apply.)
  • Encourage your company or organization to hold an Earth Day event or activity.
  • Make an appointment to speak to your elected officials.
  • Write a letter to your local, regional or national newspaper.
  • Create signs to put in your yard.
