DOE schedules hearing on Yucca Mountain EIS

ANS members are encouraged to circulate the following information among colleagues.  Anyone who can attend, may use the talking points, ANS Officers have approved and used to discuss this issue.  Questions about participation should be directed to Doug Wasitis, ANS Washington Office, 202.312.7482.


Notice from DOE

The US Dept of Energy's Yucca Mountain Site Characterization Office is hosting public hearings to accept public comment on the Draft Environmental Impact Statement for a Proposed Repository at Yucca Mountain, NV.

The first hour of each hearing will include a brief overview of the Draft EIS and a question and answer session.  The remainder of the hearing will be reserved for public comment.  The public may schedule a time to provide oral comments by calling 1-800-967-3477 or register at the hearing.  If you are unable to attend this public hearing, write, fax, or e-mail your comments by February 9,2000 to Ms. Wendy R. Tuesday, January 11th, Grant Sawyer State Building, 555 East Washington, Las Vegas, NV — 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m..

Thursday, January 13, Salt Lake City Hilton Inn, 150 West 500 South, Salt Lake City, Utah — 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Times for following meetings are listed at end.

1/24/00 in Lincoln, NE at the Ramada Inn, Airport 1101 West Bond Street

1/28/00 in Cleveland, OH at the Holiday Inn Lakeside City Center, 1111 Lakeside Avenue

2/1/00 in Chicago at the Hotel Intercontinental, 505 North Michigan Avenue.

Times are 11 am to 2 pm and then 6 pm to 9 pm.
