Nominations Open for the ANS Darlene Schmidt Science News Award

ANS members and qualifying journalists are encouraged to submit their nominations for the next ANS Darlene Schmidt Science News Award that will be awarded in 2019.

ANS established the Science News Award to acknowledge an accurate, innovative, and well-researched science-related media story, or portfolio of stories, readily accessible to the general public. Established by the Communications Committee in 2017, the award ANS seeks out journalists and science writers who have demonstrated diligence in reporting on the work of professionals in nuclear science and technology fields.

Nominations can be submitted by all ANS members or qualifying journalists can self-nominate. Permission from the author(s) or media outlet is not required. The submitted entries must have been published or broadcast in print, online, or on the air by a media outlet intended for the general public. Articles in scientific or professional journals or exclusively for a scientific professional readership will not be considered.

The committee will be accepting nominations until noon CST on September 13, 2019.
