DOE Announces Advanced Nuclear Energy Technology Funding

Secretary of Energy Rick Perry announced up to $30 million in DOE funding in FY 2018 for the development of innovative domestic reactor designs.

Secretary Perry said, “This funding opportunity is an important step to ensure our nation continues to benefit from this clean, resilient source of electricity.”

As stated in ANS Position Statement 44 ANS believes nuclear energy is an important tool in reducing emissions and will make major contributions under well-composed technology-neutral emission reduction policies.

DOE will make this opportunity available for a five-year period accepting applications on a year-round basis, with a quarterly selection process.
