Advanced Nuclear Power Tax Credit Passes

Tracy Marc|

The  House Ways and Means Committee passed H. R. 1551 to extend the deadline for the nuclear power production tax credit by voice vote on June 14. The bill "would lift a requirement that nuclear facilities be placed in service by 2020 to be eligible for the credit. It would also allow public and nonprofit entities to transfer credits to other partners on the facilities, such as the projects' designers."

This legislation is particularly important for  V.C. Summer Nuclear Station Units 2 and 3 in South Carolina and Plant Vogtle units 3 & 4 in Georgia, currently under construction.
