The Nuclear Option airs January 11 on PBS

Tracy Marc|

NOVA will be airing “The Nuclear Option” on Wednesday, January 11 at 8 pm CT/9 pm ET.

This segment investigates how the realities of climate change, the inherent limitations of renewable energy sources, and the optimism and enthusiasm of a new generation of nuclear engineers are leading to a search for ways to reinvent nuclear technology.

NOVA explores the world at a crossroads with energy plans and how nuclear energy can provide massive amounts of clean energy without impacting climate change and global warming.

Given the accidents at Fukushima, Chernobyl, and Three Mile Island, many experts are asked, "Is the world ready for the new generation of nuclear power?"
