Sign the Letter to Save Nuclear

Climate scientist James Hansen wrote to California Governor Gerry Brown last week requesting that the California Public Utility Commission (CPUC) delay the proposal to close California's only remaining nuclear energy producer, Diablo Canyon. In his letter, Hansen questions whether the proposal to close the plant is good for ratepayers, the environment and the climate since the plant has a yearly output of 17,600 gigawatt-hours supplying 9 percent of California’s total in-state electricity generation and 21 percent of its low-carbon generation.

The letter is signed by James Hansen and many notable scientists and nuclear professionals including ANS President Andy Klein and immediate past President Eugene Grecheck.
