ANS Supports Nuclear Science Week
Nuclear Science Week – October 19-23, 2015
American Nuclear Society has been a proud supporter of Nuclear Science Week since it began in 2010. This year’s big event will be held in Knoxville, TN. The ANS Oak Ridge/Knoxville Local Section and the ANS University of Tennessee Student Section will play leading roles in engaging the public in workshops, panels, and other reception events that highlight the importance of nuclear technology.
Each day of the week, participating organizations across the United States will promote different aspects of nuclear science:
- Monday, October 19: Get to know nuclear
- Tuesday, October 20: Careers in the nuclear fields
- Wednesday, October 21: Nuclear energy generation
- Thursday, October 22: Nuclear safety
- Friday, October 23: Nuclear medicine
The Smithsonian Affiliated National Museum of Nuclear Science and History founded this nationally recognized, weeklong celebration. Nuclear Science Week (NSW) is a unique outreach opportunity that grants teachers, students, and the general public direct access to nuclear technologies and energy experts.
