Late ANS Treasurer, NEI President/CEO Among Recipients of ANS Presidential Citations

Honorees to receive Citations at 2014 ANS Annual Meeting in Reno, NV

Michael Lineberry, the late Treasurer of the American Nuclear Society (ANS), and Marvin Fertel, President and CEO of the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) are among 11 recipients of the ANS Presidential Citations

Lineberry was an active member throughout his career, including leadership in the Reactor Physics and Fuel Cycle and Waste Management Divisions of ANS. He was previously recognized for his technical excellence as a Fellow of ANS. Mr. Fertel has served the industry in a variety of positions at the U.S. Council for Energy Awareness and subsequently NEI since their formation. He also has been instrumental in formulating and communicating the industry position on a number of critical issues from nuclear waste to the response to the Fukushima Daiichi accident.

The complete list of recipients include: Robert Penn (AREVA), Bill Borchardt (U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission), Roger Tilbrook (Argonne National Laboratory), Rachel Slaybaugh (University of California-Berkeley), Sama Bilbao y Leon (Virginia Commonwealth University), Mary Lou Dunzik-Gougar (Idaho State University), Peter Lyons (U.S. Department of Energy), Peter Caracappa (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), and Amir Shahkarami (Exelon Nuclear Partners). The honorees will be recognized with the award at the 2014 ANS Annual Meeting, which will be held in Reno, NV from June 15-19, 2014.

ANS Presidential Citations are presented each year to one or more individuals who have demonstrated outstanding effort in some manner for the benefit of ANS and/or the nuclear community.
