Dr. Douglas Chapin Receives Don Miller Award Honor

Dr. Chapin to receive award at the 2014 ANS Annual Meeting in Reno, NV

Dr. Douglas Chapin has been named a recipient of the 2014 Don Miller Award from the American Nuclear Society (ANS).

Dr. Chapin, Principal Officer and Director at MPR Associates, Inc., is honored for his lifelong commitment and contributions to all sectors of instrumentation and control in nuclear energy. His specific concentration has been on the advanced digital instrumentation and control systems including research projects, practical applications for the technology in existing nuclear power plants, and specifications for digital systems for future nuclear power plants.

Dr. Chapin received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Studies in Chemical Engineering from Princeton University and his M.S. in Applied Science from George Washington University. He will be recognized with the award at the 2014 ANS Annual Meeting, which will be held in Reno, NV from June 15-19, 2014.

This award was established in 2009 by the ANS Human Factors, Instrumentation & Controls Division (HFICD). It is named after Dr. Don Miller, Professor and distinguished Program Chair at the Ohio State University Nuclear Engineering Program, a prior member of the Advisory Committee on Reactor Safeguards, and past ANS President. The award is given to an individual or team who has made recognized contributions to the advancement of one or both of the fields of nuclear instrumentation and control or human-machine interface through individual or combined activities that reflect the life and contributions of Dr. Miller.
