Dr. Elia Merzari has received the 2014 Landis Young Member Engineering Achievement Award from the American Nuclear Society (ANS).

Dr. Merzari, a Nuclear Engineer at Argonne National Laboratory, is recognized for his pacesetting contributions to simulation of complex turbulent flows and multi-scale/multi-physics simulations of nuclear reactor designs.

Dr. Merzari received his Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from the Tokyo Institute of Technology and his M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from Politecnico di Milano in Milano, Italy. He will be recognized with the award at the 2014 ANS Annual Meeting, which will be held in Reno, NV from June 15-19, 2014.

The Landis Young Member Engineering Achievement Award recognizes an individual who has made significant technical contributions in any one of the many engineering disciplines served by the Society. The attainment can be in the form of a new principle, concept, design, method of analysis, product emanating from research or development, or from effective application of engineering knowledge to yield a commercial service or product needed in the nuclear energy enterprise.
