The American Nuclear Society (ANS) is holding its 2013 Annual Meeting June 16-20 in Atlanta, Georgia. The conference brings together hundreds of professionals working with and researching nuclear science and technology to hear the latest developments.

According to ANS President Michael Corradini, "Scientific meetings are critical to improving current technologies, to sharing lessons learned and best practices among practitioners, and to continuing to make advancements in how best to use nuclear science and technology to improve quality of life for people around the world."

The conference kicks off with a panel of distinguished speakers discussing the prospects and challenges of the next generation of nuclear energy. Speakers of the panel include Commissioner Kristine Svinicki of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Daniel Roderick of Westinghouse, Edward Moses of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, Frank Helin of Generation mPower, Eugene Grecheck of Dominion Generation, and Steve Kuczynski of Southern Nuclear, who is also general chair of the conference.

The conference features more than 50 sessions covering a wide range of topics including safety, career enhancement for women, using nuclear science and technology in space exploration, updated safety standards in nuclear reactions, an update on new nuclear construction around the world, and much more. A full program with details on sessions is available on the ANS website.
