Department of Homeland Security seeks comments on Protective Action Guides regarding Radiological Dispersion Devices or Improvised Nuclear Devices

The Department of Homeland Security has issued a press release about proposed guidance for Protective Action Guides applicable to events involving a Radiological Disperson Device (dirty bomb) or an Improvised Nuclear Device. The proposed guidance is published in the January 3 issue of the Federal Register (71 FR 178). (You can access the PDF version, about 5Mb, via http://www.gpoaccess.gov/fr/index.html, if you enter an appropriate search term, such as "protective action guide.")

Interested people are encouraged to provide comment on the proposed guidance. Comments are due March 6, 2006. See the press release for details about submitting comments.
