Position Statements represent the ANS official position on issues of policy or technical significance. The Public Policy Committee (PPC) of the ANS is responsible for the adequacy of Position Statements and submits them to the ANS Board for approval.
Professional Divisions, special committees, and the ANS Board serve to identify subjects that need to be treated in Position Statements. The documents are supported by technical papers that provide background information, explain and justify the positions taken, discuss the significance and impact of the positions, and include references as applicable.
The Society's Professional Divisions are responsible for the accuracy of the technical information in both the technical papers and the Position Statements. The PPC has ultimate responsibility for the Position Statements.
The Position Statements are posted on the ANS web page and are available to ANS members and the public at large.
