Established by the Young Members Group (YMG) in 2007, to recognize an individual or group that has made a significant contribution toward integrating young members into ANS as a whole.  It is presented annually to an individual or a group.

This award is granted to an individual or a group that has increased membership or participation of young members, created leadership or experience opportunities for young members, trained or mentored young members, raised funding for young members, publicly supported the cause of young members, or taken other actions to get young members involved with ANS on a national level.  Special consideration is given to those whose actions have far-reaching effect, such as impacting large numbers of young members or setting a public example for young member outreach.

Young Members Advancement Award recipients are selected by the Young Members Group Honors and Awards Committee.  Nominations must include the completed nomination form accompanied by a narrative summary of about 1,000 words detailing the qualities of the candidate, relevant accomplishments, and significance of achievements.  Additional letters of endorsement (no more than 5), a brief chronological resume or history of the nominee, and any relevant literature or other evidence that the candidate's actions have been outstanding are recommended, and will be considered as part of the overall application.  Nomination packages must be submitted to the Young Members Group Honors & Awards Committee Chair.  Nominees need not be ANS members, ANS-based organizations or YMG members, but must be living at the time of selection.  An appropriately inscribed plaque is presented at the ANS Winter Meeting.

Nominations are due by July 1.

As an alternative to hard-copy documents, nominations and supporting documents may be attached to an e-mail addressed to honors@ans.org with a carbon copy to the Young Members Group at ymg@ans.org.
