Robert Lacy was born in Chicago and raised in Indiana and Hawaii. He graduated in 1954 from the University of Colorado with a degree in Aerospace Engineering. He entered the U.S. Navy upon graduation and served as an officer in the Nuclear Power Program, working on the development of nuclear powered vessels.
In 1967 Bob began his career with San Diego Gas and Electric Company. His responsibilities included management of the Company's share of the San Onofre Nuclear Plant. In 1987 he was named Manager of the Nuclear Department and remained in that position until his retirement from the Company in 1993. Upon retiring, Mr. Lacy began a busy career in consulting with the Atlas and Scripps Consulting Groups, working in the field of nuclear power plant management.
Bob was chair of the ANS San Diego Local Section and was instrumental in the formation of the ANS San Onofre Plant Branch. He was a longstanding contributor to ANS and was active in the national ANS, including chairing the Executive Conference Review Committee, Treasurer-Elect of the Power Division, and recipient of the ANS Leadership Award.
