Angelo F. Bisesti (1942 - 1994)

The technology of construction of a commercial nuclear plant has been developed to a mature level in the past 40 years through the hard work of many engineers and construction managers. One of our best in this field was Angelo F. Bisesti.

Angelo was born on Long Island and spent many years in car racing and other family experiences with his brothers in New York. He completed his bachelor's degree program at San Francisco State University in Electrical Engineering and started his career with Ebasco and later with Stone & Webster in the design departments for early nuclear plants.

He joined Bechtel Power Corporation in 1971 and served a Lead Engineer for the Susquehanna BWR, advanced control room development, testing installations and commissioning. Angelo then served as resident project manager for Unit 1, through fuel load. Susquehanna has been considered a model for the industry for construction and had we continued building new plants, we would have followed the guidance and lessons learned in the Susquehanna construction program. In 1987, he joined Fluor Daniel as Senior Director of Power Marketing and was responsible for nuclear operating plant services and subsequently for advanced technology programs.

Angelo was best known for his abilities to lead technical programs in which everyone enjoyed participating. His personality brought out the best in everyone that came in contact with him and his enthusiasm for quality and life was infectious.

Angelo was a member of the American Nuclear Society since 1986 and served as the Technical Program Chair for the 1991 ANS Winter Meeting Embedded Topical Meeting, "The Next Generation of Nuclear Plants - A Status Report," which was sponsored by the ANS Power Division. It became of the highest attended Embedded Topical Meetings in ANS history. He also served on the ANS Power Division Program Committee and as a Session Organizer for many special sessions over the years. In 1993, Angelo was a candidate for the ANS Board of Directors and was appointed as the Vice Chair of the ANS Special Committee on New Construction by the Society president.
