Local Section: Colorado
Date Submitted: October 2003
Topic: Inform & Educate Local Section Members
Description: Members knew a significant amount about one segment of the nuclear industry, but they were not well informed about happenings in other segments.  Section chair found a wide variety of industry activities in Colorado.  A dinner meeting was organized (August 2003) to provide an opportunity for representatives of corporations and government organizations to provide an overview of their local work.

Speakers were asked to provide a forecast for their segment of the industry in the next few years.  Presentations were kept short (about five minutes each) in order to provide an opportunity for a broad overview of the industry in Colorado.

Local Section membership was enthusiastic about the program; section is considering a repeat each 12-18 months.  Another option is tagging such a presentation to the beginning of each monthly meeting.

Membership feedback about interest in specific topics allowed development of follow-on programs by some presenters.
