The primary mission of the Special Committee on Development is to help provide financial and membership support for the Society's missions and goals. This work includes helping to expand the revenue sources through contributions to the Outreach program, Scholarship funds, and overall operations of the Society. The committee will serve, in essence, as a voluntary adjunct to the paid staff, doing what it can under the supervision of the Executive Director and head of the Outreach Department to implement the Society's Development Policy. Its activities shall include, but not be limited to:
- Identify and make contact with potential donors. External donors include foundations, agencies, corporate sponsors, and others. Internal donors include ANS members.
- Establish and maintain relationships with donors.
- Follow up and thank donors.
- Propose new development activities.
- Make personal contacts with members of the Society for specific support of designated development activities.
- Provide information and advice on the Development Policy to the Society's leadership as requested.
- Assess the worth/practicality of development activities suggested by other members of the Society.
- Encourage membership contributions by making personal donations.
The special committee will be composed of up to 10 ANS members.
