The American Nuclear Society (ANS) Board of Directors at its 195th meeting on June 16, 2016 directed the Society and appropriate stakeholders to review and consider changes to the Annual and Winter National Meetings structure. This Special Committee is established in order to bring the appropriate stakeholders together for full consideration of the meetings related recommendations presented by the ANS Special Committee on the Future of ANS, specifically High-Priority Recommendations #2 and #4, plus Lower-Priority Recommendation #1. While the Board directed a focus on the Annual and Winter National Meetings, the Special Committee shall also more broadly consider the Society’s utilization of topical meetings and executive conferences as well as the compensation/business models related to meetings to deliver value to the Society and our members.
The Special Committee is encouraged to bring forward recommendations at any time that will substantially improve the Society’s meeting structure or business model and shall submit an interim report to the Executive Committee no later than January 1, 2017, and a final report of its activities and recommendations for action to the Board of Directors no later than June 1, 2017. The final report will include details for potential implementation of recommendations sufficient to develop business cases for the recommendations.
This Special Committee will sunset at the completion of the 198th ANS Board of Directors meeting on June 15, 2017.
